Joining the Ranks of the Dragonknights Empty
PostSubject: Joining the Ranks of the Dragonknights   Joining the Ranks of the Dragonknights Icon_minitimeSat Aug 08, 2009 1:39 pm

Everyone is welcome to join the Dragonknights. There are a few requirements to advancing through the ranks though.

Here are the basics to advancing. Each rank will require something unique in ADDITION to these basics.

1. Always remember Rule Zero: Dagorhir is a game of honor. In all aspects of Dagorhir, common sense supersedes loopholes. In applying the rules, safety comes first, followed by playability, then “realism.” Please read the rules thoroughly (several times is recommended). The rules are written to be self-explanatory, clear, and detailed, but not every angle of every situation can been covered. Often a rule is clarified later in the same (or subsequent) paragraph. Loopholes will not even be considered by the Heralds (referees), check-in personnel, officials, or other players.

2. Always strive to better yourself. Come to as many practices as you can, attend as many construction classes as you can, design anything you can, and build everything you can.

3. Own and maintain your own weapons, armor, and garb.

4. TAKE YOUR HITS! This ties into Rule Zero. Honor is everything in Dagorhir. If you are a rhinohider, then NO ONE will respect you, and EVERYONE will stop having fun. Besides, all rhinohiding does is hurt you....LITERALLY.

5. If you meet a rhinohider, BASH EM. MAKE them take your hits.

Now, on to the ranks.

Honored Dragonknight: An Honored Dragonknight is a Dagorhirrim wishes to join, but is in another unit. An Honored Dragonknight can also be a Dagorhirrim that emulates or wishes to emulate the Dragonknight code. The rank of Honored Dragonknight can be given by any unit member of Hatchling Dragonknight or higher, and can only be revoked by a Dragonmaster or Unit Leader. Honored Dragonknights cannot vote, create unit guilds, or suggest rank additions. However, Honored Dragonknights can join unit guilds, fight and camp with the unit, and also lead squads into battle when higher ranks are dead or absent.

Recruit: A recruit is just that: a recruit. They can fight with the unit, but have not pledged their loyalty to the unit yet. Because of this, a recruit cannot vote in unit decisions, create or join unit guilds, or suggest rank additions.

Hatchling: A Hatchling Dragonknight is a recruit that has pledged their loyalty to the unit. Hatchlings can vote, suggest rank additions, and join unit guilds, but cannot create unit guilds. Hatchlings must follow the basic rules of the unit to continue advancing.

Fledgling: Fledglings have the same rights as Hatchlings. To advance to the rank of Fledgling Dragonknight, a Hatchling must defeat another Hatchling in a heralded single blue duel. If another Hatchling is not available, then a higher rank can be dueled, and the herald will judge his proficiency.

Wyrmling: Wyrmlings have the same rights as Hatchlings and Fledglings. To advance to the rank of Wyrmling Dragonknight, a Fledgling must first have actively held the rank of Fledgling for at least one (1) month. Activity is defined by how many practices/battles/classes the Fledgling has participated in. In addition, a Fledgling must defeat another Fledgling or two Hatchlings in combat. Any weapon set is allowed. If these ranks are not available, then a higher rank can be dueled, and the herald will judge his profiency. Finally, a Fledgling must have familiarized him or herself with the Lore of the Realm and the Manual of Arms, as well as own his/her own garb and equipment.

Dragonknight: Dragonknights have full rights to vote, join and create unit guilds, and suggest rank additions. To advance to the rank of full-fledged Dragonknight, a Wyrmling must-

Have shown honor, ferocity, and the use of tactics in battle. Running away is NOT considered a tactic. Running IS considered a tactic.
