Making Arrows, How To Empty
PostSubject: Making Arrows, How To   Making Arrows, How To Icon_minitimeTue Aug 24, 2010 6:44 pm

As the question has been brought to attention, I figured I should make a topic addressing this

To start things off:
Buy actual arrows, you want them to be over 28inches as it is the max draw length in Dag, and you want to be able to pull back 28 inches without the head of the arrow touching the bow.

#1 and this is the most important, if your arrow has a tip (and by tip I mean a piece that sits over the shaft at the front end) it must be removed. Sometimes it's as easy as just pulling it off with some pliers, but I've cut them off before....

After that, take some duct tape and wrap it around at the tip until a Penny meets flush with the diameter of tape you have, and tape the Penny on securely

When you've done all that, you are actually ready to start foamsmithing. The method for smithing Arrows is pretty much the same for Pommels. Put a layer that goes around the arrow, and then put a foam cap on the end, do that like 2 or 3 times.

After that, you need the fluffy open cell foam, and you dont want to DAP it on, if you can, you will want to get some spray adhesive. The reason for this is that if you compress the open cell onto the dap, it will get dap further into the open cell piece rather than just the surface it is touching, and the foam can end up staying compressed.

Then all you need to do is take a piece of cloth big enough to cover all the foam, but it over the arrow head and tape it down firlmy on the shaft.

There are also Arrow Tutorials on the Main Dagorhir.com website, and they can be viewed Here

Note this one thing: Via new arrow rules that will come into effect this next Ragnarok, and so that you dont have to remake your arrow heads, MAKE YOUR ARROW HEADS SODA CAN SHAPE, dont make them stream-line like a teardrop shape. While making them teardrop shape makes them more aerodynamic, it causes the arrow's tail end to whip around when it hits something which can hit someone in the face or something and end up with an unhappy ending....

ARROW WARNING: Do not buy aluminum arrows. It's a very bad idea, due to the fact that they bend, break, and crimp VERY easily. Your best bet are carbon fiber arrows, and if you're going to go for 28+ in arrows, go expensive, and get more quality for your money. If possible, find a hunting arrow shaft that can take the brunt of being stepped on.

AHNZ EDIT: To add onto Aodhfin's message, you may want to try to consider finding a Carbon Fiber/Fiberglass Arrows, or Carbon Fiber/Aluminum, as typically the composite shafts (composite meaning two materials combined) tend to hold up better to bending and snapping/breaking.
