PostSubject: ok fellas,let's talk about this   Mon May 03, 2010 9:35 pm

so Altera is hosting the big show on the 29th,let's prep ahead so we don't look like a buncha rubes
we have 26 days to prep
I need to repair and rebuild a ton of frackin weapons
we also should start looking at garbing the fellas,since there was bitching and whining about my supplied garb last time,I am going to bring it again just to be an a$$
so I need to get the ones who want it aside for fittings,also I can fire up the sewing maching and get some tunics built.
ride situation needs to be worked out,I think that is a kid free weekend for me so I can get with Chell and see if we can haul some folks
food and drink,I can bring a case of water and maybe some sandwiches
but I can't supply the whole wad so that is why planning needs to start now.
training,not an issue as i think we are on the right track.

I am going to start fishing around for us an easy up,I think I have access to one,as a home base for all of us.

I'll have the realm armory fully repaired, water, and anywhere from 2-4 seats available. I'll also have munchies and a small dining fly. Training wise, I agree with Sulla on us being on the right track. Keep in mind though, this is an event that requires garb. Therefore, at the next few practices, I'll be going over what would count as acceptable STARTING garb. By no means does it mean to keep that same garb for the next, idk....twenty years or so. lol

Here's a rundown of basic passing garb:

Scrub pants/sweat pants: Black or earth tones
Tunic: same colors, preferably crotch length or longer
Belt: not blatantly modern (no crazy colors, studded hot topic belts, etc)

I'm also going to be trying to get some tunics thrown together (not to mention better garb for me, who wants to listen to a Dragonwalker walking around looking like he started fighting yesterday) before Ludi, but EVERYTHING depends on my tax check getting here in time.

Guys, Stormwrath (the new Kansas Chapter) has not been around nearly as long as we have, and from what I've seen, they have about 20 members and 15 of which have GOOD garb.
They have not been around nearly as long as we have, and yet they have far superior garb to us.
So lets get our shiza together and get some garb, you all should strive to have better garb than I do, and mine isnt the best in the world (and simply wearing warpaint does not count).

and here's my speil post what Aodhfin said on simple garb;
-Get some black sweatpants, if they have elastic around the ankle, cut it off...they didnt have elastic back in the medieval ages(they found ways to get the same effect, but still)
-Make a tabbard, it is so much easier than making a tunic(see links below for example tutorials) You just need to get a piece of fabric as wide as the distance somewhere between your chest and shoulder width, and as long as twice the distance from the top of your shoulders to below your crotch. With it, where a simple no-design T-shirt from Kohls or like dillards or something(this is just what you'll be wearing under it) and you'll need a belt to wear over the tabbard at around your stomach, both historically, and because you dont want the tabbard blowing or spinning around on you.
-Belt: Find the biggest most simple looking belt that you can find, preferably something with a roundish buckle(the bigger the buckle the better)

also;

Sulla, it's sammiches, not sandwiches.
If someone who is definitely going has a van or something, or for instance Aodhfin having like a bus(idk), come up with a fair fare that covers gas and food, and a departure time and leaving time, and post how many available seats there are so that people can all join up and ride and eat together. (Yes, this is a lot like an elementary school field trip...but with swords and axes and awesome ****)

Aodhfin, I'm assuming that drew will have my stuff done before Ludi, but it'd be cool if you made one or two of these:
36" overall length(including foam) double sided blues. Cores: Find the grey electrical conduit stuff at the end of the PVC isle as Lowes Depot(Home Depot/Lowes). The pieces are like 1/2"inner diameter and 3/4"outer diameter or so, it's what my fancy wakizashi is made from if you remember, and i'm fairly certain that they come in a 3 or 4ft length.
The conduit might say PVC on it, big deal, the one big way you can tell it's it, is that the ends of the pieces have grooves on them so that they can be screwed into joints or w/e. (The ends should be cut off, otherwise it would be easy to shear the tip off when swinging).
Furthermore, I'd make the handle close to the 1/3length maximum it can be.
The weapon(s) will not need to be weighted, it is a heavier core.

If you can't get it done by Ludi it's fine, but if you do, i'd really like to check them out, they should be pretty wicked...at least in my mind. I'm just curious as to whether or not they would be cumbersome to swing for their size, what I envision is a longer shield paired weapon that is still fairly quick.

Ahnz, most of us have just enough money to pay for our families, and the rest of us either just don't have money (younger teens) or don't have enough time cuz of working constantly. Also, if you haven't noticed, the majority of the gear we have is provided by an unnamed benefactor that regularly shows up to practice and whoops on people (if you can't figure out who, I'm sorry lol). Plus, Kansas is better off than Oklahoma as far as I know. Pretty much everywhere is.
