Oops, sorry Aodhfin, forgot about the sock / cloth cover. Tyr is right though. You can get a pair of long socks at WalMart for about $3 for a package. I use dance tights for my stuff, which is a little more expensive, but it conforms to the shape of the sword and they are smooth.
